Washed Rock Salt

Raw salt has various applications, including:

- Chemical production: It acts as a raw material for producing chlorine, caustic soda, soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, and other chemicals through electrolysis, particularly refined salt, which is essential for the chemical industry.

- Water treatment: Raw salt helps regenerate ion exchange resins in water softening systems, ensuring cleaner water.

- Manufacturing: It is a crucial component in the production of glass, paper, and textiles, often in the form of vacuum salt that meets stringent purity standards.

- De-icing: Used to melt ice and snow on roads during winter, making travel safer.

- Firefighting: The principal extinguishing agent in dry-powder fire extinguishers for combating combustible metal fires (Class D).

In food and agriculture:

- Flavouring and preservation: It enhances the flavour of food and is used for preserving meats, vegetables, and pickles.

- Livestock feed: Salt tablets are added to livestock feed to supply essential minerals.

- Soil conditioning: Salt is used in agriculture to supply minerals to the soil and manage alkalinity, improving crop yields.

In health and beauty:

- Cosmetics: Raw salt is included in body scrubs, bath salts, and facial washes to exfoliate skin and detoxify pores.

- Alternative medicine: It is utilized in steam therapy, salt rooms, and salt inhalations for various health benefits.

- Skin and muscle relief: Salt baths can help soothe skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, relieve muscle soreness, and promote relaxation.

In cleaning:

- Household cleaning: Raw salt can be effective in cleaning stains from mugs, and when combined with other ingredients, helps clear blocked drains.

- Disinfecting: It is used to clean fish tanks, effectively removing hard water deposits.

- Stain removal: A solution of salt and water can be employed to remove perspiration and other stains from fabrics.

Overall, raw salt serves primarily as a high-purity source of sodium chloride for the chemical industry to produce chlorine and caustic soda, and for the pharmaceutical industry to create saline solutions. It is also a vital component in water treatment, glass and paper manufacturing, and textile dyeing due to its purity and consistent, uniform form, often found in washed rock salt.
